Harold Charles Rohde

October 7, 1927 — April 1, 2014

Harold Charles Rohde, 86, of Twin Falls, passed away at Bridgeview Estates on Monday, April 1, with his daughter at his side. His son and other family had visited him in his final days to say goodbye and make sure he knew how much he was loved. He was born October 7, 1927, to Earl and Bernice Rohde in Greenwood, Wisconsin. He grew up on a farm with his parents and three siblings – Jim, Dorothy, and Duane. He always shared stories about “the farm in Wisconsin”, his dog Jack, and the tough winters he endured growing up. His father was a professional musician so Harold grew up with a love for music that remained with him his entire life. He was a gifted guitar player and singer. In 1944, when Harold was not yet 18, he convinced a United States Army recruiter to admit him to the service of his country. Though he is considered a veteran of World War II, he spent the bulk of his military service in the Korean Conflict where he served in the Military Police. He eventually moved to North Dakota and worked for the telephone company. While there, he met a beautiful switchboard operator named Doris, and eventually convinced her to go out on a date. Through his relationship with this preacher’s daughter, Harold came to know the love of Christ and began his walk with the Lord. In the late 1980s, Harold and Doris followed their children and grandchildren west and made Twin Falls their new home. Harold enjoyed his retirement in Idaho, and continued to visit his beloved North Dakota. Our fondest memories of our dad, grandpa, husband, and friend are when he was riding his motorcycle or playing his guitar. He loved hitting the road with friends and always had his eye on “the next bike.” Harold is survived by his wife, Doris, of Twin Falls, children, Mark Rohde (Julie Rohde) of Jackson, Wyoming, and Cathy Muus Adams (Jesse Adams) of Twin Falls. his grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Tyrell, Rayme, and Jaden, as well as nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and son in law, Patrick Muus. Funeral services will be held today Saturday April 5, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave. E Twin Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home.
