Betty Jean Messenger Heimgartner, 72, of Nampa, Idaho passed away October 2, 2012 with her family and friends by her side as she drifted off to be with the Lord. She was born May 13, 1940 in Jerome, Idaho the eldest daughter of Edward and Olive (Dorman) Messenger. Betty attended schools in Jerome graduating from Jerome High School in 1958 and furthered her education at Northwest Nazarene College and Twin Falls Business College. Betty worked as a bookkeeper. She married Paul Stinnette in 1960. Their union was blessed with one child. They were later divorced. On June 1, 1984 she married Eugene Heimgartner in Buhl, Idaho. Gene had two sons and a daughter by a previous marriage. Betty was a talented seamstress who did not meet a project that she could not master. She loved to read intriguing books and was devoted to studying the Bible. She loved to travel and trips that allowed for seeing other parts of the world. She enjoyed the beauty and peace that nature provided. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother and mother in law until her own health made it impossible to be a caregiver and become the care receiver. Betty was a wonderful, wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves to celebrate her life her daughter Janel (Jeff) Pickens of Nampa, stepson Rick (Netta) Heimgartner of Culdesac, Idaho, stepson Jerry (Jana) Heimgartner of Pendleton, Oregon, and stepdaughter Teresa (Kevin) Teater of Pendleton, Oregon; sister Sue (Tom) Capps of Twin Falls, Idaho, sister-in-law Mary Messenger of Parker Dam, Arizona, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years Eugene Heimgartner (August 20, 2012), her parents Edward and Olive Messenger, her brother Dennis Messenger and grandson Justin Heimgartner Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Internment will take place Friday, October 12, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the Jerome Cemetery. A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Twin Falls Nazarene Church. Please join the family for a reception at the church in the Sawtooth Room following the service.
