William David Paul

January 27, 1958 — December 26, 2025

William (Bill) Paul collapsed from a brain aneurysm on Christmas evening and passed away the next day surrounded by family and friends. Bill was born Jan. 27, 1958 and was the middle child of three born to Herbert and Jeanne Paul. He grew up on their farm near Eden and enjoyed the farm life as he helped with the farm chores of moving pipe and driving tractors. He also got to spend time skiing and golfing with his family. He graduated from Valley High School in 1976.

He studied Auto and Diesel Technology at CSI and graduated in 1979. He worked for Chris Jordan Mazda Volkswagon for 15 years and was their employee of the year in 1987. He started working for Gary’s Westland which was later Rob Green Auto Group in 1993 and was still working there at his passing. He was proud to be able to keep up on his certifications for all the new vehicles.

He married Nomie and they had a son Lance. They later divorced. Then he met and married his true love and best friend Sandy Owings Paul on April 16, 1994. They shared many interests and hobbies. They both loved flying and had pilot licenses. Their passion for flying is what first brought them together. They also loved to cruise and went on several cruises each year. They would have another cruise booked before they got off the ship. They didn’t wait until they retired to start making memories. Instead they started the day they married. Every weekend would find them playing with one of their toys which included fishing, biking, snowmobiling, jet skiing, 4-wheeling, kayaking, and, of course, flying.

They have a son Parker. Bill helped him with his schoolwork, they played video games together, and Bill took an interest in all of his activities. Bill loved going to action movies. If the movie was too scary for Sandy, either Lance or Parker would join him. When his mother was alive Bill enjoyed going to her house every Wednesday for lunch. He also loved it when Lance and his granddaughters Samantha and Taytum would meet him for lunch. He was glad he could go to his granddaughters school activities and see their 4-H projects. He looked forward to getting a phone call from Lance as Lance was driving home from work.

Many people have described Bill as a gentle soul which is a perfect description. We can all picture big Bill cuddling his teeny, tiny min Pin dogs as he tenderly held them. Bill also loved food, both eating and cooking it. He spent hours looking up new recipes on-line and trying some of the recipes. He would diet before a cruise so he could eat as much as he wanted on the ship. He also enjoyed socializing with his wine gourmet group.

Bill loved life. He couldn’t wait for summers so he could ride his motorcycle to work. He and Sandy walked 10,000 steps every day although it was sometimes under protest on Bill’s part. He liked to sit in his hot tub at night and track where the planes were going that flew overhead.

Bill was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Sandy would volunteer him for all sorts of jobs and Bill would perform them with a happy heart.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Jeanne Paul, his in-laws Kenny and Violet Owings, and his brothers-in-law Dan Owings and Kevin Owings. He is survived by his wife Sandy Paul, sons Lance (Lonnie) Paul and Parker Paul, sister Susan (Mike) Pohanka, brother Mike (Priscilla) Paul, granddaughters Samantha Paul and Taytum Paul, Brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Keith and Vickie Owings, Cindy Owings and Sherry Owings, numerous nieces and nephews, and his four dogs.
