Blaine Jay Mai, born September 19, 1945, passed away in his home in Twin Falls, Idaho, on March 27, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
Blaine was born in Burley, Idaho, at Cassia Memorial Hospital to Alex and Jean Mai. He grew up in Burley, attending local schools and graduating from Burley High School in 1963. Shortly after graduation, he decided he had had enough of working on the ranch and milking cows, so he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served for four years, spending most of his time on the USS Ticonderoga.
After completing his military service, Blaine returned to Idaho and met Renee Graves, the woman who would become his lifelong partner. They married in 1967 and built a life centered on love, family, and shared purpose. Blaine continued his education at the College of Southern Idaho, earning an associate degree in Education and Horticulture. Together, Blaine and Renee raised three children:
Blaine devoted most of his professional life to the agriculture industry. He farmed for many years, working the land with dedication and pride. Later, he transitioned into sales and manufacturing within the agricultural sector, where he was known for his integrity, reliability, and the genuine relationships he built throughout the industry.
One of Blaine’s greatest passions was the game of golf. Whether he was winning or losing, he was at his happiest on the golf course. He cherished the time spent playing with family members and friends, sharing laughter, friendly competition, and the simple joy of being outdoors. Golf was more than a pastime for Blaine—it was a source of connection, peace, and pure enjoyment. He also relished camping, hunting and fishing with his family from an early age well into retirement.
Blaine was preceded in death by his mother, Jean; father, Alex; mother‑in‑law, Jeri; father‑in‑law, Alvin; brothers, Larry and Leon Mai; and sisters-in-law, Loretta Mai and Elda Mai.
He is survived by his loving wife, Renee; his children and their spouses; siblings: Phil (Verna) Mai, Kelly (Lou Ann) Mai, and Julie (Rich) Vegal, Holly Mai and his grandchildren: Makayla (Vandy) Phanthavong, Brett (Chelsy) Smith, Mickenzie (Braden) Butterfield, Hayli (Brett) Moody, Kadyn (Trent) Gonzalez, Shelbi (Braeden) Sanchez, Sophia Mai, Angeline Mai, Adrian Erhard, Hunter Venem, and Garret Venem, along with many great‑grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors who cared for Blaine in his final days and to A Bridge to Home Hospice, whose support allowed him to remain at home surrounded by family.
Blaine chose to be cremated under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home. A small celebration of life for close friends and family will be held at Rock Creek Park on Easter Sunday, April 5th @ 12:00PM. A presentation of military honors will follow on Monday, April 6th, at Rosenau Funeral Home for immediate family.
Blaine will be remembered for his wicked sense of humor, his deep honesty, and the integrity that guided his life. His love for family, his devotion to the land, and his joy on the golf course will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
