I missed you for so long. How can I miss you even more, now that you are found? How could one wrong turn get you so lost that you could not find your way back? How could I not be able to guide you home to safety? So many questions we don’t have answers for, so many questions to which the answers will not matter when we are together again, in the loving arms of Jesus.

Brent Martinez took his first breath on 10.10.1989 in Twin Falls, Idaho.

It has been such a joy seeing you grow up. Humble and handsome with a presence that quietly drew everyone in, without realizing you stole their hearts, and they were yours forever.

The first 18 years of your life you lived with such abundance. Everything you tried you succeeded at with excellence - sports, academics, relationships. Everything seemed to come easy for you. You filled big storage totes with awards you earned for baseball, bowling, football and your favorite wrestling. The last three years of high school, you had to pick two sports. You played football because you wanted to be part of a team and wrestling to show what you could do as an individual. You earned Male Athlete of the year 2007-2008, Honor Cords in Finance Academy and graduated with a 4.0 average from the Twin Falls High. You also had almost two years toward college with dual credits under your belt. All the while you stayed humble and kind, always looking out for the “under dog” and lifting up bent spirits.

Brent, you LOVED fiercely and fully, your family, your friends and your “Ravens”, always finding the good in every person, never judging, cheering on anyone’s effort. Often you took punishment undeserved because you would not tell on anyone. Most loyal you kept a secret no matter what. Your big sister had a special sacred place in your heart and you in hers

Once the structure of school was gone, you got lost, taking a wrong turn and totally losing your way. We know you tried. Oh, how you tried to find your way back. You kept getting turned around for the worst. All of us who loved you tried so hard to give you guidance, but your path kept drawing you away, into side streets and alleys that only made finding the way home harder.

Now rest well, my sweet boy. We will love and miss you until we see you again, to be together for all eternity.

Your daughter Alyssa Martinez, your mom, Birgit Allred-Martinez, your sister, Isabella Allred, your brother Samuel Allred, your father by legal adoption Joseph Martinez, many nieces and nephews, and so many friends will truly miss you. You were loved so deeply and fully by so many.
