Buddy William Yardley

July 19, 1941 — October 25, 2025

Twin Falls

Buddy William “Bud” Yardley, 84, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 25, 2025. Bud was born on July 19, 1941, in Fremont, Missouri, to Fred and Christine Yardley. In 1948, the family moved to Oregon. He attended high school in Warrenton, where he played basketball, football, baseball and track.

After graduating, Bud worked at Warrenton Lumber Company. In 1963, he was called to serve his country. While stationed with the Atomic Energy Commission at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he met Marlene Lassiter. In October 1965, they were married at a little adobe church in Estancia, New Mexico. Later they returned to Bud’s hometown of Warrenton, Oregon. They lived there for several years before moving to Twin Falls, Idaho, where they raised their family and spent the remainder of their years.

In 1975, Bud began his career with The Amalgamated Sugar Company as a mechanic in the Twin Falls District Agriculture Repair Department. In January 1981, he was promoted to Ag Repair Department Supervisor. He held this position for 34 years until his retirement in March 2009. Bud was respected for his skill, reliability, and leadership—supervising numerous agricultural mechanics and ensuring the smooth operation of equipment across 17 sugar beet receiving stations. He was known for his dependability, kindness, and loyalty to his coworkers and friends.

Bud and Marlene were blessed with 3 children: Scott (1969-1970), Sean and Rachelle. They enjoyed 57 wonderful years together before Marlene’s passing in 2023. Bud enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as golfing at the Jerome Country Club. Bud and Marlene made multiple trips to Seaside, Oregon each year to visit friends and Bud’s classmates with whom he remained in close contact.

Bud had a lifelong passion for classic cars. One of his proudest accomplishments was restoring a 1934 Chevy Coupe that arrived in pieces on a trailer. After countless hours of work, he brought it back to life, painting it his favorite color—green—and adding personal touches that reflected his unique personality. Another special project was tracking down his 1963 Plymouth Fury, the car he and Marlene drove on their first date to a drive-in theater to see Cat Ballou. Although the car was still mid-restoration when their 50th anniversary arrived, their grandson Austin lovingly chauffeured them to their celebration in that very same car. Bud later completed the restoration, and the Fury, along with the Chevy, was passed down to his grandsons. They’ve proudly continued his legacy, entering the cars into numerous shows and keeping his love for classic cars alive.

Bud will be remembered as a hardworking, humble, and compassionate man whose life was defined by devotion to his family and faith. He had a gift for storytelling and a joyful spirit that could fill any room with laughter.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marlene Yardley, and their son, Scott Gregory Yardley. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Yardley; his son, Sean (Jodie) Yardley; his daughter, Rachelle (Keith) Novinger; and his beloved grandchildren, Mason, Austin (Shaynee), Annie, and Eli.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bud’s life and share memories at an open house on Friday, November 7, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the community room at Rosenau’s Funeral Home on Addison Avenue in Twin Falls.
