Cheryl Kay (Collins) Anderson

Cheryl Kay (Collins) Anderson, 77, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a short illness.

Cheryl was born in 1948 at Twin Falls County Hospital and was raised in Kimberly, Idaho, where she spent nearly her entire life. Before Cheryl was born, her parents, Bert and Faye Collins, moved from Missouri and made Kimberly their home. Cheryl graduated from Kimberly High School with the Class of 1967. After graduation, she began her career with the Bean Growers Association in Kimberly before joining Intermountain Gas Company in Twin Falls.

Cheryl devoted more than 40 years to Intermountain Gas Company, retiring as a Line Engineer. She was respected for her intelligence, dependability, and exceptional work ethic, earning the admiration and friendship of her coworkers throughout her career. Her commitment to her work was extraordinary.

Whether at work, at home, or at the family cabin, Cheryl approached every part of her life with quiet humility, steadfast dedication, and a servant’s heart. She never sought recognition for herself, but instead found joy in caring for those she loved and doing every task to the very best of her ability.

While attending Kimberly High School, Cheryl met the love of her life, Larry Anderson, who attended neighboring Hansen High School. They married and shared 55 wonderful years together until Larry’s passing in 2022. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering devotion to one another.

Family was the center of Cheryl’s life. Some of her happiest memories were made at the family cabin in Pine, Idaho, which she and Larry built in the early 1990s. It became a cherished gathering place where children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren came together to create lifelong memories. Countless days were spent there enjoying family meals, boating, fishing, and floating the river—traditions Cheryl and Larry lovingly created and shared with their family.

Cheryl is survived by her daughters, Dusty Preece and her husband, Michael, of Kimberly, Idaho, and Shantell Anderson of Sun Valley, Idaho.

She is also survived by her grandsons, Keegan Preece and his wife, Madison, and their son, Kavax J. Preece, of Twin Falls, Idaho; Koltan Preece and his wife, Carissa, and their daughter, Charlotte May Preece, of Twin Falls, Idaho; and her granddaughters, Kate Anderson and Brooklyn Anderson of Sun Valley, Idaho.

She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Elizabeth McVey, whose friendship remained a treasured part of Cheryl’s life long after their years together at Intermountain Gas Company.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Larry Anderson; her parents, Bert and Faye Collins; and her brothers, Roger Collins and his wife, Phyllis, and Robbie Collins and his wife, Carol.

Those who knew Cheryl will remember her for her quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, gentle spirit, and the unconditional love she had for her family. She had a remarkable way of making those around her feel loved and valued, often reminding them with her favorite saying, “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”

Her life was one of kindness, humility, devotion, and grace. She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her example, her love, and the countless memories she and Larry created together. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on through the family they built, the traditions they established, and the love they instilled in every generation that follows.
