Dale was born in Sheridan, Montana, March 1, 1952 the third of nine children to Grant and Virginia (Pierce) Stephens. He graduated from Ronan High School in 1970. Dale married the love of his life, Marie (Trevithick) on October 9, 1971. Dale passed suddenly when taking his dogs for their morning walk on April 30, 2026.
Their marriage was full of hard work in locations from Stevensville to Montague, Carter to Toston. He worked in excavation, dairy, equipment sales and other handyman work, until he started his career in truck driving in 1979 with Nabisco. They lived in Helena from 1984 until 2018 when they moved to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Dale will always be remembered for his generous heart, his impeccable work ethic and his solid faith. He was the first to lend a hand, at any cost. He was very much a selfless man. He made his choice to make Jesus a priority in his teen years and never deviated from that commitment. Dale was definitely a perfectionist in his work, from wood working to fencing – it had to be done the right way, with care and precision!
He is survived by his wife of almost 55 yrs, EllenMarie, his son, Bob (Tania) of Fargo, ND; daughter, Bonita (Tom) of Twin Falls ID, grandsons, Donovan and Darien; brothers – Larry, Lloyd and David (Karla), sisters – Anne Coles, Linda (Roger) Benjamin, Bonnie (Dale) Braaten, Betty (Dennis) Figarelle and Dicie (Fred) Jangula; brothers and sisters in law – Melody (Paul) Morrison, Joyce, Anita, Ken (Beke) Trevithick and Lola (Rocky) Fiegi; aunts and an uncle, many nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends that mean so very much to Dale and Marie. Dale is proceeded in death by his parents, siblings (in law) Ben Coles, Paul Trevithick, Paul and Mary Richey and 3 young nephews/nieces.
