Diana C. Thomason

March 28, 1946 — January 19, 2024

Twin Falls, Idaho

The world lost a beloved person, Diana C. Thomason, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on January 19, 2024, in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Diana was born on March 28, 1946, to Keith R. Carlson and Lila J. Carlson in Babbitt, Nevada.  They soon moved to Reno, Nevada where Diana graduated from Reno High School in 1964.  Diana met, fell in love, and married J. Ellis Thomason on July 11, 1964.

They lived in Sparks, Nevada where their daughters were born.  In 1970, they moved to Wendell, Idaho where together they built a life raising two daughters while purchasing and operating Hub City Building Center and then Al’s Chevron.  She spent her time with her family enjoying many different adventures including camping, fishing, and family trips.

While raising their family, Diana worked alongside her husband at the Hub City Building Center and then worked for the Wendell School District.  After raising her family, she returned to school earning a bachelor’s degree in social work from Boise State University.   She enjoyed her job as an Adult Protection Social Worker and Investigator at the Office on Aging in Twin Falls, Idaho.  It gave her great joy to be a defender of people who were unable to stand up for themselves.  After a full career in social work, she retired and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Known for her quick wit, love of conversation, debate, and sudoku, Diana will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Diana’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life and not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by her beloved daughters Lisa (Philip) Briggs and Tonia (Jeremy) Grantham, and her grandchildren Alyvia Briggs and Joshua Grantham.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, J. Ellis Thomason.

A graveside dedication and celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 18, 2024, at 2:00pm at the Twin Falls Cemetery followed by a reception with family and friends at Rosenau Funeral Home on 2826 Addison Avenue East, Twin Falls, ID 83301.  In lieu of flowers or memorial gifts, we suggest donations to The Glaucoma Foundation at glaucomafoundation.org.
