Doris L. Boyd

Doris Leona Boyd, 91, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away on September 24, 2026. She was born on September 2, 1935, in Lewis, Colorado, the daughter of Ross and Catherine French. In 1942 her family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where she would spend much of her life.

In those days you had to pull your own weight, so she worked the family garden in the summer and canned in the fall. She also babysat and cleaned homes. In her senior year of high school, she was hired as a bookkeeper for Swift and Company. It was in that same year she met Roger.

On June 12, 1955, Doris married Roger Boyd. Together they raised two sons, James Richard Boyd and Brent Roger Boyd. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2020.

In 1964 Doris and Roger moved to Arcadia, California, where they worked as dental technicians for eleven years. During that time Doris became a born-again Christian and attended a two-year Bible school so she could teach the Scriptures. She never stopped. For more than fifty years she taught the Bible, including through a prison ministry, and she was instrumental in leading many people to Christ.

Doris had a gift for making every holiday special. She prepared the meals, hosted with warmth, planned family reunions, and cherished every chance to gather with loved ones. In 1975 the family returned to Twin Falls; Roger was still a farmer at heart. Doris continued working in the dental field for another eight years before later joining her favorite furniture store, where she delighted in decorating and helping others create beautiful homes.

In retirement, Roger and Doris spent ten years traveling Idaho in their fifth wheel. They enjoyed the company of their many friends while playing pinochle and bridge. Although her favorite vacations were Ireland and Scotland—she loved the beautiful rolling hills and the lovely green grass.

Doris’s life was marked by deep faith, generous hospitality, and a steadfast love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of teaching, service, and the many lives she touched through her quiet, faithful witness.

While we will miss her, we know she was saved by Jesus and was welcomed into heaven.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Boyd; her son, Brent; her parents; and her seven siblings. She is survived by her son, Jim, and his wife, Nikki; her four grandchildren, Jennifer, Cory, Emilee and Anna; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Thursday, October 1st at 10 a.m.
