Dorothy Mae Yarborough, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025. Born on November 25, 1939 in Richmond, California to Eugene and Patrina Pallotta, she grew up in Crockett, California and graduated from John Swett High School. On November 19, 1967 she married Jack Yarborough and soon after, relocated to the Central Valley where they would establish deep roots and raise their children, John, Donald and Mary Kay. Together, they celebrated 57 years of marriage.
In 2018, Dorothy and Jack made the bold move to relocate to Twin Falls, Idaho to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life. Our family watched in amazement as Mom and Dad eagerly explored the backroads and scenic places in the state they now called home. Immediately, they began attending St. Edward’s Catholic Church and quickly established a close group of friends who enjoyed a shared faith, weekly coffee dates, family stories, support during difficult times and many, many laughs. This late in life adventure afforded them a renewed independence and quality of life that was a true gift.
Our mother’s life was characterized by devotion to her family and loyalty to her friends. While she cherished new friendships, Dorothy maintained a strong connection to long-time friends back in California. “The Girls” as they were known were childhood friends who remained close and constant. Pat and Paul Reichmuth were considered part of our family and our parents’ closest friends. Always ready with a thoughtful card, she possessed a knack for choosing the perfect gift, selected with love. To those around her, she was a source of encouragement and love, always classy, sometimes sassy and always ready to laugh. Her grandchildren were a source of immense joy and she lit up in their presence. Famous for her rigatoni dinners and bottomless candy dish, she was always up for coffee and a treat. Although small in stature, her influence was great. Mimi was the heart of our family and her loss is deeply felt.
She is survived by her husband Jack, son John and son-in-law Chuck, son Donald and daughter-in-law Jennifer, and daughter Mary Kay and son-in-law Mark. Her grandchildren include Hannah, Alyssa, Emily, Jack and Sam, along with great-grandchildren Hudson and Grayson. Special thanks to the amazing nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital and Auburn Crest Hospice for their tireless effort and loving care.
