Douglas Lee Mathers

February 8, 1960 — July 17, 2024

Kimberly, ID

Douglas Lee Mathers, 64, passed away suddenly on July 17, 2024. Doug was born on February 8, 1960 to Bill and Lottie Mathers in Twin Falls Idaho.

Doug attended Kimberly schools where he participated in football and was an active member in FFA and 4H, winning many awards showing steers from the family Ranch.

Doug worked on the family ranch from a young age, and after his father‘s untimely passing in 1984, he took the reins of the ranch and dedicated himself to its growth and success. He was known for his exceptional work ethic, discipline and passion for ranching and farming. He ran a cow/calf operation and was a respected member of the Western Stockgrowers Cattle Association and Salmon River Cattle Association. Doug took great pride in his cattle and representing the 3rd generation running the Lazy Bar L brand.

Family and Faith was the other half of Doug‘s life. He was a baptized member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kimberly, and a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Eden, where he would accompany his mom to church on Sundays.

Doug was a proud and loving father to his sons, Zachary and William, daughter, Mandi, and recently became a grandpa to a beautiful granddaughter. Doug was very excited to become a grandpa and his smile while holding her lit up the room.

Doug is survived by his mother, Lottie, sons, Zachary, and William (Jessica, Kai, Caden, Caleb, Kendyl, Colt), daughter Mandi (Wooten) Riddle, sister, Jeanne (Ladd) Lappin, niece, Tarah (Phil) Kropp and numerous cousins, extended relatives, and good friends who were like family to him.

Doug was known for his huge heart and big hands, and those big hands helped so many people. He cherished his family and shared a special bond with them and close friends as well. There will be a huge void in the lives of many without him running around the ranch.

A celebration of Doug’s life and burial will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the family cemetery, McMullen Creek, Kimberly, Idaho. Following the service, the family would like to welcome family and friends for memory sharing. There will be non-alcoholic refreshments provided. Please bring lawn chairs, and dress casually. We want everyone to be happy and relaxed like Doug would want in the Southern Idaho July heat.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Sacred Heart Ranch of Idaho, in memory of Doug.

Doug will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, hard work and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
