Our beloved Husband, Father & Grandfather, Dwight Dwayne Bell, 93, departed this life on June 21, 2025 at home in Twin Falls. He was born on September 12, 1931 in Rupert, Idaho to Wayne Farrow Bell & Margaret Lucile Barr Bell. Dwight enjoyed farm life in his childhood, telling stories of herding cattle on his horse by the canal on the Rupert highway, milking cows, and hunting. He graduated from Paul High School in 1948 where he participated in football and drama. Shortly after graduation he moved with his family to Twin Falls. Dwight joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in May 1953 along with his father, Wayne. Dwight married Myrna Rae Hunter on June 24, 1953 in Paul, Idaho, in a double ceremony with Myrna's sister Jeanine Hunter and Dallas Clark. Dwight & Myrna made their home in Twin Falls where five children were born to them--Raedene, Kevin, Teresa, Gregory & Chris. In May 1963 they took their family to the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and were sealed together for time & all eternity.
Dwight was known for being a hard worker. He worked for his father at Stockgrower's Commission Company until 1957 when he went to work for Mountain Bell as an installer and many years as a dispatcher. He continued to weigh cattle at Stockgrowers on Saturdays for several years until the business was sold. Being an avid horseman, he would also purchase horses at Stockgrowers to break and resale to supplement the family income. In addition, Dwight also milked five cows by hand before and after work each day. In 1979, Dwight & Myrna opened Bell's Family Books which she ran until he retired from the telephone company in 1987. About that time Myrna developed early onset Alzheimer's disease and Dwight became her sole caregiver until she passed away in 2006 after nearly 53 years of marriage. He continued to operate Bell's Family Books as well with the help of family until it closed after 37 years of business.
During his lifetime Dwight held many leadership positions in his church. In 2006, he began working in the Boise LDS Temple and drove several others with him weekly until he transferred to the Twin Falls LDS Temple upon its opening in 2008. Dwight married Saundra Lee Johnson on July 10, 2010 in the Twin Falls LDS Temple and together they served as ordinance workers there until he was unable to work in 2019.
Dwight was very social and loved to talk with everyone whether it was customers from the telephone company and bookstore, or his many friends and family. He was really good at teasing his children and grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and neighbor kids and became the favorite of many. One would often hear him singing or whistling a tune. His annual hunting trips with his sons were the highlight of each year and he really enjoyed the entertainment at the many LDS Bookseller's Conventions he attended in Salt Lake.
Dwight is survived by his wife Saundra; Children Raedene (Bruce) Kulm, Kevin (LaRene) Bell, Teresa Hafen, Chris (Sheryl) Bell; 18 Grandchildren, 31 G-Grandchildren, 4 GG-Grandchildren, and numerous extended family. He is preceded in death by his first wife Myrna, son Gregory, parents Wayne & Lucile, and siblings Jean Hasselstrom, Ferrell Bell, Verlee Hall, and Keith Bell.
The family would like to thank Visions Hospice for their expert help in Dwight's last days. Funeral services will be held on June 30th at 10:00 am at the LDS Stake Center located at 667 Harrison St. in Twin Falls with closed casket visitation 1 hour prior at 9:00 am. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
