With deep sorrow the family announces the passing of our dad, Earl Tse in his sleep on October 28, 2025. In his last week, our dad was surrounded by his family and love ones. Earl was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on April 19, 1942. In 1965 he married our mom, Yuk Lan Cho. During the 1970s the Tse family fled Cambodia from the Khmer Rouge regime led by Pol Pot. Two of our younger brothers were separated during that time from our family. Michael reunited with the family in 1978 and Ken reunited with the family in 1981. Our family were refugees surviving and moving place to place: Laos, Thailand, Macau, and Hong Kong before finding safety in the United States. The family lived in Seattle from 1978 to 1980 and made their long-term home in Twin Falls, Idaho since 1980. In Twin Falls, my parents with their friends started Mandarin House. Several years later, Earl and Lan started their own restaurant: China Garden then Tse Restaurant. In 1994 Earl was ordained as a Buddhist monk. His commitment to spiritual life led him to travel internationally, helping build temples and support Buddhist communities in places including Panama, Spain, Taiwan, Japan, and New York. Later in life he settled at the Buddhist temple located in Houston, Texas. Earl is survived by his ex-wife Yuk Lan Cho, his four sons: James Tse, Tony Tse, Ken Tse, and Michael Tse. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, extended family, and many friends who remember him for his spiritual devotion. A memorial service will be held on November 7, 2025 at 12:00 PM in Rosenau Funeral Home in Twin Falls, Idaho. The family welcomes remembrances that celebrate Earl’s life.
