Elmo Rasmussen

Elmo Rasmussen, 92, of Twin Falls, ID passed away peacefully July 8, 2011, with his family at his side. Elmo was born in Declo, ID to Jens Edward Rasmussen and Sarah Jane Darrington on May 11, 1919. In 1939, Elmo and Josie Udy were married and had four children, Darhl, Elmo, Kara, and Roland. They were later divorced and Elmo married Faye Spencer on November 23, 1963. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had three children, Shane, Pamela, and Elisha. As a young man, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Copenhagen, Denmark, and served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Elmo was a farmer in Oakley and Richfield for most of his life until moving to Wyoming, where he worked eight years for FMC before retiring. He often talked fondly of his younger years riding horses and working on the farm. Elmo was a man of integrity who loved to work and loved his family and he will be greatly missed. Elmo’s family would like to thank the staff at Twin Falls Care Center and Visions Hospice for providing him with comfort and compassion at the end of his life. Elmo is survived by his wife, Faye of Twin Falls, ID; son, Shane (Tammy) Rasmussen of Twin Falls, ID; daughter, Pamela (Keith) Farr of Mesa, AZ; daughter, Elisha (Ernesto) Figueroa of Eagle, ID; and daughter, Kara (Alex) Gordon of Boise, ID; as well as 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (June) of Burley, ID and Lady, his faithful dog. Elmo was preceded in death by his parents, Jens and Sarah; siblings, Joel, Ralph, Floyd, and Roberta; and children, Darhl, Elmo, and Roland. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on July 14th at Rosenau Funeral Home in Twin Falls, ID. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 229 Park Ave., Twin Falls, ID on Friday, July 15th, 2011at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Graveside services will be held later that day at the Richfield Cemetery in Richfield, ID at 3:00 p.m. The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
