July 10, 1929 — June 22, 2011

Rev. George Spee born July 10, 1929, passed away on June 22, 2011 in Twin Falls, ID. He was raised in Grand Rapids, MI where he attended Calvin College and Seminary. He studied in the Netherlands and Israel before attending Columbia Bible College in South Carolina. He graduated from Calvin Seminary in 1956. George met Jean in Grand Rapids and were married in 1956. They felt called to the mission field and spent the next 26 years in Nigeria, West Africa working with the Tiv people. During that time they raised four daughters. Due to health problems, George and Jean retired from Nigeria in 1983. In 1984 they felt led again to the mission field and served in the Bahamas, where they worked for 26 years on the island of Eleuthera. They officially retired from the mission field in 2010 but never retired from mission work. George was always a missionary at heart. George never met a stranger and enjoyed helping others selflessly. Above all, he loved the Lord and his greatest desire was that all lost souls be saved.
