Harold H. “Grampy” Holladay, lovingly known as Grampy, Unc, Stinky, Pops, and even Doc to those closest to him, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at the age of 82 in Twin Falls, Idaho, after a long life full of family, laughter, and joy.
Harold was born on October 10, 1943, to Walter and Iris Holladay and was raised in Laramie, Wyoming. On March 23, 1967, he married the love of his life, Carole Hall, beginning a lifelong partnership centered on family and shared memories.
Harold proudly served his country in the United States Navy from September 1962 until June 1966 during the Vietnam War. He served as an Electrician’s Mate Third Class aboard the USS Ticonderoga and USS Regulus. Following his military service, Harold built a successful career in telecommunications. He worked as a Central Technician with Mountain Bell and later Qwest, after serving as Chief Engineer of Cable Colorvision.
While Harold was proud of his professional accomplishments, his greatest achievement was being a father, friend, and “Grampy” to everyone lucky enough to know him. He was the world’s biggest fan of every activity his children and grandchildren participated in, never missing a chance to cheer them on.
Harold was deeply involved in his community. He served as President of the Carbon County School Board and was an active member of the Elks, Jaycees, and the Cheyenne Engineers.
Those who knew Harold remember him as compassionate, wise, and always ready to share that wisdom—often proudly and with a grin. He had a quick wit and a sense of humor that could light up any room. He had a rare ability to make everyone feel like family. Harold was happiest sitting with a cold beverage in hand, surrounded by the people he loved most.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carole “Hall” Holladay; his daughters Andrea (John) Graham and Robyn (Scott) Seigworth; and his beloved grandchildren Ali Moore (Nathan Riddle), Brenden (Madison) Graham, Reilly (Maddie Dean) Graham, Bayley Beard, and Kylar (Amy) Moore. He is also survived by his brothers Gordon Holladay and Bernard Holladay, along with many extended family members and countless friends who considered him family.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Iris Holladay, his sister Scharlene Masters, and his beloved dog Roxy.
If you knew Harold, you likely called him Grampy or Doc. He never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with open arms. He loved his friends fiercely and his family even more. There wasn’t a kid’s activity he didn’t enjoy attending, and there wasn’t a friend of his kids or grandkids he didn’t embrace as one of his own.
Grampy was truly a force to be reckoned with. His presence, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in his honor the Special Operations Warrior Fund.
