Hollis Vaughn Neal, age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025 with Karen his wife by his side in Twin Falls. They would have been married for 70 years on October 14th. Hollis was born on July 11, 1930, in Snowville, Utah. He was the youngest of 12 children.
Hollis graduated from Bear River High School in Tremonton in 1948 as well as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Seminary program. In September of 1950 he entered the Hawaiian Mission to serve for two years. After returning from his mission, he went to BYU/Provo and majored in business. He was working at the College Book Store and that is where he met his future bride, Karen Stallings. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on October 14, 1955. They had four children, Jami, Barry, Steve and Sandi.
Hollis was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings, Elders Quorum President, Bishopric, High Council, Stake Presidency and at the Boise and Twin Falls Temple as an ordinance worker. He also served two missions at Temple Square in Salt Lake City with his wife Karen. They were also volunteer missionaries at the Salt Lake City Olympics and the Palmyra Pageant. Hollis loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many places around the world that he never would have thought in his younger years that he would have been able to see.
Hollis was a self-taught/on the job trained irrigation specialist which allowed him to support his family throughout the years. He worked for Mel Brown Irrigation in Idaho Falls for many years before he transferred to Twin Falls. He was able to eventually buy his own irrigation business.
Hollis loved camping, skiing, motorcycle trail riding, and being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He sang and played the guitar in a band their first few years of marriage. He loved it and continued to play and sing for his family & friends up until a year ago when he could no longer play.
Hollis also loved BYU football and had season tickets for many years. After he wasn’t able to attend the games in person, he never missed a game on TV. He could always tell you when every game was, what time they aired and what channel and could tell you every score. He was a true-blue Cougar fan!
Hollis is preceded in death by his parents John Samuel and Clara Isabell Neal and all 11 of his siblings, his grandson Chase Allen Lee and granddaughter Emilia Astrid Neal.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Neal; sons Barry Neal (Mary) and Steve Neal (Susan) and daughters Jami Lee (Kim) and Sandi Bates (Monte); 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and 1 more great-grandchild in December.
