Hyrum Dille

April 21, 1939 — July 14, 2025

Hyrum George Christensen Dille, 86, of Kimberly, Idaho was called home to our Heavenly Father at 2:22 PM on Monday July 14th, 2025, at St. Luke’s hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho. Hyrum was surrounded by his family and loved ones in his final days.

Hyrum was preceded in death by his loving mother and father, Laura and Hilbert, his brothers, Vern and Doyle, and his son, David Reuben. Hyrum is survived by siblings: Ila, Carel, Kay, and Loyd, the love of his life, Sandra Rae, and children: Lesa, Dean, Lloyd, Kris, Charlie, Jody, Lewis, and Benjamin, and 15 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Hyrum, affectionately known as “Hy,” was born in Wendell, Idaho on April 21st, 1939. Hy graduated from Gooding High School and spent the entirety of his life in the Magic Valley. He was a jack-of-all-trades, and wasn’t above doing whatever it took to support his family. Many years prior to settling into retirement, he worked as a CNA for a retirement community in Kimberly.

Hy loved his home in the Magic Valley, which seemed to naturally cater to his hobbies. On any given Summer day, Hy could be seen with his grandchildren, tending to the garden, or with his beloved Dalmatians, Salt & Pepper, at one of the many local fishing holes.

While Hy’s hobbies were many, his truest passion was his family. The warmth and kindness that Hy shared with each and every family member, he also extended to neighbors and acquaintances, though it was a rarity to be his acquaintance for long. Perhaps the most telling quality of Hy was his fondness of hearing “HI, HY!” from anyone he knew at the grocery store, or at church. He genuinely loved everyone he met, and went out of his way to befriend unfamiliar faces.

Hy will be fondly remembered by his community and family for his warmth and welcoming nature, his ability to seek out and help those in need, and his love for all things living. There is a rift of sadness that his absence brings to our lives that will only be healed by honoring the memories and legacy he leaves behind.
