Jack Arthur Yarborough

April 7, 1936 — January 30, 2026

Jack Arthur Yarborough, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2025, seven months after his wife and best friend Dorothy. He was born on April 7, 1936, in Alameda, CA to Noah and Ellen Yarborough. They soon moved to a ranch in Vacaville where Jack spent his early years before the family eventually settled in Fairfield. He graduated from Armijo High School in 1954. He worked delivering milk and committed some time to junior college, but in 1962 Jack decided to join the Army. He was stationed for a time in Germany before returning home to take a job as a corrections officer for the State of CA.

Jack married Dorothy Pallotta on November 19, 1966 in Carmel Highlands, one of their favorite spots, and they settled in Fairfield CA. Jack and Dorthy would go on to celebrate 59 years together. In 1969, he was given the opportunity to transfer to the Central Valley. He and Dorothy saw this as an adventure and a great place to raise their young family, so they rented out their home, packed up their belongings and landed in Escalon. They rented an old brick ranch house across the street from St. Patrick’s church on Hwy 120, where they would soon join the congregation. In 1972 they purchased their 7-acre ranch on River Road, where they raised their children, Jim, John, Donald and Mary Kay into adulthood. Jack worked during the week and took on a “weekend rancher” role, providing several opportunities for his kids to help, whether they wanted to or not. He chose to retire early and was formally recognized by the State of CA in January 1986 for 25 years of faithful public service. His next career was assisting adults with special needs, where he worked for many years before officially retiring.

Jack and Dorothy moved to Modesto in their later years, where they chose retirement activities as opposed to weekend ranch commitments. They formed strong friendships and traveled extensively with their closest friends Pat and Paul Reichmuth and Joe and Fran Martarano. Jack loved his family, fishing and collecting anything duck related. These items filled his “duck room” where he would spend many an afternoon watching war and western movies.

In 2018, still feeling spry and adventurous, Jack and Dorothy packed up again and moved to Twin Falls, ID for a slower pace and to be closer to family. They flourished in this new environment, exploring backroads, CSI concerts, historical dinners, attending regular friends coffee meetings, and completely immersing themselves in their new community. They joined St. Edwards Church and established a small, close group of friends with shared interests. It was amazing how well they engaged and thrived the past few years. Jack would share how much they missed close CA friends and family, but this move worked well for them and greatly improved their quality of life.

Known for his sense of humor and colorful one-liners, Jack’s funny sayings and catch phrases are part of the family vocabulary and have trickled down through children and grandchildren. His devotion and commitment to his family was consistent and unwavering. He will be missed.

Jack is survived by his son Jim, son John and son-in-law Chuck, son Donald and daughter-in-law Jennifer, and daughter Mary Kay and son-in-law Mark. His grandchildren include Justin, Hannah, Alyssa, Emily, Jack and Sam, along with great-grandchildren.

Our family wishes to extend special thanks and grateful appreciation to the staff of Canyons Senior Living for providing attention and care, Auburn Crest Home Health and Hospice for walking Jack and his family through this final season of his life, and Julene Jones who offered friendship and compassionate service.

A service and reception will be held on March 14, 2026 at 11:00am at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave E, Twin Falls ID.
