Karen Dickman

August 20, 1946 — November 23, 2024

Karen Sue Bostron Dickman

78 year old Karen Sue Dickman has joined Our Father In Heaven on November 23, 2024.

Born August 20, 1946 in Alliance, Nebraska to Reinholdt and Eletha Fanning Bostron, she was the oldest and only daughter of 4. At the age of 9, in 1955 the family moved to Boise, Idaho where they would reside shortly before moving to Twin Falls, Idaho. Karen and her 3 younger brothers, Ronald Bostron, Gary Bostron, and Michael Bostron were raised in Twin Falls, and all graduated from Twin Falls High School. Karen graduated in the class of 1964.

In 1965 Karen met and married the love of her life, Donald Louis Dickman, also known as Jeff Dickman. Jeff lovingly called her “Susie”. Karen and Jeff had 2 children together, Tammera Lynn (1966) and Jeffery Scott (1969). Together they raised Tammi and Jeffrey in Twin Falls, Idaho. Karen loved the 1970’s and was the classic Chic-Hippy lady. She was very stylish with her short- skirts, go-go boots, big hair, and boho attire including hats. She often drove her brother, Michael’s, 1967 bright red camaro, all dressed up to retrieve her kids from school. It was a sight to be seen.

While raising her children, and while her husband was an over-the-road truck driver, Karen was a dedicated and excellent server at George K’s. She truly loved the service industry in every aspect. She moved like a gazelle on a mission, while holding heavy food trays, with a smile on her face and often a joke to tell patrons.

Karen went back to college after raising her kids and then worked at the Times News as a Classified Advisor for almost 30 years, retiring in 2008 to attend to her husband in his final chapters of life. She enjoyed her retirement living in the same home in Twin Falls for over 30 years. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, cooking, and having family and friends over for get-togethers and holiday parties, and of course, a few spirits. Her favorite activity for the holidays was decorating her house and yard with her oldest grandson, Gabe. She liked traveling with her Daughter, Son-in-law and grandkids. Karen liked Hawaii and National Final Rodeo in Las Vegas. Prior to her husband’s death in 2009, Karen and Jeff enjoyed camping, fishing, 4 wheeling, sight-seeing, and traveling most of the western US, including Arizona to visit their son and his family. Their favorite camping/summer spot was in the Stanley, Idaho area. Many family and friend gatherings took place at Alturas Lake, Redfish Lake, Obsidian near the Salmon River, and Beaver Creek near the Smiley Creek Station area.

Karen was known for being happy, caring, and friendly to everyone. Her smile was contagious, and her red hair was her trademark. She was kind and welcomed anyone, never meeting a stranger. She enjoyed being in the public and working at the Times News, making many friends. She also was a dedicated caretaker of her family, including her mother and father, and her grandkids.

She is preceeded in death by her mother, Eletha Fanning Bostron; her father, Reinholdt Bostron; her husband, Donald Louis “Jeff” Dickman; and her brother, Gary Bostron.

She is survived by her brothers, Ronald and Michael Bostron; her daughter, Tammi Dickman Koepnick; her son-in-law, Ken Koepnick; her four grandsons, Gabriel, Anthony, Richard and Gunner (Tammi & Ken Koepnick); her son, Jeffery Dickman (Marisela); her granddaughter, Alexandria Dickman (Jeff & Marisela); and her 2 great-granddaughters, Samantha and Madison (Richard & Audrey).

No services will be held as requested by Karen. Cremation will take place and she will join her husband’s ashes where they will later be spread together in their favorite mountain meadow in Idaho.
