A Letter Celebrating Kevin’s Life

On June 18 at 6:18 p.m., Kevin took his final breath on earth and his first breath in Heaven as he went home to be with Jesus.

Kevin was born on August 29, 1956, in Bismarck, North Dakota to Russell and Rose Marie. He grew up alongside his brother, Kurt, and sister, Kim.

He attended Twin Falls schools and graduated from Twin Falls High School before earning his Business degree from Northwest Nazarene College. Kevin often joked that college was where he finally came out of his shell. Once the quiet, shy young man, he found lifelong friendships—including NNC’s guys-only group known as the Spirit Freaks.

After college Kevin moved to Casper, Wyoming, where he married the love of his life, Kim. Together they began building the beautiful life they would share for more than four decades. Kevin and Kim along with their three children, Keleigh, Kirk and Kameron roamed the US for a few years and eventually, the family returned home to Idaho, where Kevin continued building both his career and his legacy.

Kevin discovered his true calling when he joined the staff at White Mortuary as an apprentice, eventually moving to Portland to attend mortuary science school. He often credited Lewis Lenker for encouraging him to pursue a career in funeral service. Under the leadership and mentorship of Lewis and many others, Kevin flourished, becoming an exceptional funeral director who compassionately walked alongside families during some of life’s most difficult moments. He considered it his ministry and a privilege to help others navigate grief with dignity, kindness, and grace. Kevin’s dream was to own his own Funeral Home, which came to fruition in January of 2010, when he proudly opened Rosenau Funeral Home.

Throughout his career, Kevin wore many hats. He served as an ambassador of the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce, was active in the Optimist Club, the Lions Club, and also served as President of the Idaho Funeral Service Association. His commitment to serving others extended far beyond his profession and reflected the kind of man he was every day.

Outside of work, Kevin and Kim embraced life together. They were blessed with countless wonderful friendships, unforgettable vacations, and memories that will be cherished forever. Some of Kevin’s happiest moments were spent riding motorcycles with his friends, enjoying the open road and the camaraderie he treasured so deeply.

Kevin shared a special bond with his best friend, Brent Pollard. Their friendship was one of unwavering loyalty, laughter, and countless memories that neither of them took for granted.

Family was Kevin’s greatest joy. He was a proud Papa to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable happiness to his life. Nothing made him smile more than spending time with the people he loved most.

In June of 2021, Kevin retired, proudly passing the torch to his son-in-law, Dustin, to continue the Rosenau Funeral Home legacy. Retirement allowed Kevin and Kim to spend even more time making memories with their family, especially their youngest grandchildren.

After a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease and aphasia,( that never took his memory of family and friends !!!) Kevin was mercifully released from his earthly body and welcomed into the presence of Jesus. He was surrounded by the love of his wife, children, and their spouses as he entered his eternal home.

Kevin will be deeply missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing him. But while our hearts ache with his absence, we find peace in knowing this is not goodbye.

It’s simply, “Save us a seat at the table, and watch for us. We’ll be there someday too.”

Until we meet again, we will carry your love, your example, and your legacy in our hearts. Kevin’s memorial will be held August 22 at 2:00 at Twin Falls Church of the Nazarene . It will be live streamed and available on the Rosenau Funeral Home website.
