In The evening of December 19th, the world lost a gentle giant both in stature and spirit. Loyd Delano Bailey unexpectedly returned to his heavenly home due to a short illness.

Loyd entered this world on November 20,1954. He was the oldest child of Delano (Del) and Ione Bailey and was adored by his two younger sisters, Chris and Shurlyn. He graduated in 1973 from Vallivue High School in Caldwell, Idaho.

He had a passion for all sports and excelled in them. He especially loved football and played for Ricks College (BYU-I) from 1972. A defining decision in his life was to set football aside and serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the Dallas, Texas Mission from 1974-1976. He was a committed, active member of the LDS Church and served in various callings throughout his life.He loved our Savior, Jesus Christ, and had an unwavering testimony of the gospel and its teachings.

He met Laura Louise Hansen in 1983 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on November 30, 1983. After several moves, they settled in Filer, Idaho and raised their family there. They were blessed with 5 children, Lance, Cherissa, Terrell, Cortland, and Kendalee. His greatest pride and joy were his children, their spouses and his twelve grandchildren.

Another passion of his was hunting which he instilled in his children. They were his favorite hunting partners and spent many hours enjoying nature and hunting together.

As an adult, Loyd had several occupations. He had an aptitude for law enforcement and served as an officer and Filer's Chief of Police for a time. He thrived in that position and implemented many positive upgrades in the department, including developing a Policy & Procedure Manual for the police department. He worked in several State Correctional Facilities and was a glock instructor. He received fulfillment by serving his community. He was soft-hearted and served with compassion.

Loyd is survived by his wife, Laura and his children, Lance (Amy) Bailey, Cherissa (McKay) Ralphs, Terrell (Morgan) Bailey, Cortland (Summer) Bailey, Kendalee Bailey, and his 12 grandchildren.
