Kathy Smith

May 29, 1948 — April 8, 2026

With faith in God’s promise of eternal life, solely through the work of Jesus Christ, Mary Kathy Smith (Scruggs), 77, peacefully entered into heaven on April 8, 2026, surrounded by love and family. Kathy was born on May 29, 1948, to William and Mary Scruggs. She was raised alongside her siblings, Jim (Kathy), Larry (Ann), Richard (Cheryl), and John (Lois), in California before moving to Hagerman Idaho, at the age of 10, where she developed the caring and generous spirit that would define her life. She married the love of her life, Jerry Smith, on August 16, 1968, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and generosity. She was a loving and devoted mother to her two sons, Brian (Clover) and Mike (Jamie), and her daughter Michelle, whom she selflessly and lovingly cared for at home throughout her entire life. Kathy devoted her life to creating a home filled with warmth, compassion, and unwavering love—a place where not only her family, but all who entered, felt welcomed and cared for. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, Tairan (Allison), Taylor, Madison, Kinsey, and Brock. She cherished each of them deeply and loved them with her whole heart. She also found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially time spent at the beach, cheering on BSU, her well-known collection of Coca-Cola treasures, and frequent game nights with the grandkids. Her presence in their lives was a constant source of warmth, guidance, and unconditional love. Though she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now rejoicing in heaven. She is reunited with her beloved husband Jerry and is embracing her precious grandchild Kinsey in the presence of her Lord, and surrounded by many family members and friends. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of who she was. She lived her faith out daily through her dependence on God and time in His Word which was reflected in her kindness and love for others. Her life is a great example of a servant’s heart, always putting others before herself and offering support, comfort, and encouragement. Kathy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous spirit, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of her family and all those lives she touched. Kathy’s favorite verse was John 6:40 “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.” Funeral services will be held on April 24th with viewing at 10am and service following at 11am at Magic Valley Bible Church, 204 Main Ave N, Twin Falls.
