Mona Lynn Martin

April 2, 1966 — December 18, 2023

Kimberly, Idaho

On December 18, 2023, Mona Lynn Martin (Pratt) was reunited with her Lord and Savior. She was born April 2, 1966, in Blackfoot, Idaho, the second born and last child of Gary and Anita Pratt. She found her soulmate, Hal, while attending school at the University of Idaho. They were married in 1991 in Blackfoot and soon after welcomed their son, Cody, and daughter, Kylie. Shortly after, the family moved to Kimberly, Idaho and immersed themselves in a new community where Mona achieved her dream of being a full-time mom and homemaker.

Faith, family, and relationships were everything to Mona. She loved the Lord and was a beautiful example of what unwavering faith looks like. She radiated beauty inside and out and had an incredibly calming presence. She was kind, selfless, genuine, tender, patient, and the best listener. Mona devoted herself to Jesus, her husband, and her children. She made home a refuge, a place of peace and calm, and her family cherished every minute they spent together.

Mona enjoyed spending summer days caring for her yard, which was a feast for the senses, and winter afternoons crocheting or reading her Bible curled up by the fireplace with a cozy throw and a chai latte. She adored getting lost in conversation with loved ones over a homemade baked good, wandering the aisles of Barnes & Noble for the next interesting book to add to her library, and relishing warm evenings on the patio with her sweetheart watching hummingbirds.

Mona and Hal were thrilled to welcome both their first grandsons in July of this year, Maximilian Martin and Sage Casperson. She delighted in being “Nonni” and made many fond memories in the five months they shared together.

She was a role model of being present with her loved ones and living with gratitude. She valiantly continued that example throughout her illness.

Those close to her had time to prepare for this eventuality, but also know they can never really prepare for the moments and years ahead without such a special soul in their lives. Mona’s family finds solace in having had this angel on earth a part of their life for so long; they have been truly blessed.

Mona is survived by her devoted husband, Hal; son Cody (Hannah) Martin, daughter Kylie (Cody) Casperson, two grandsons; parents Gary and Anita Pratt, brother Mark (Wendy) Pratt; mother-in-law Louise Martin-Kobellas, sister-in-law Michelle (Darin) Luttrell; five nieces and three nephews, three great nieces and a great nephew.

The family would especially like to thank Ginger, from Hospice Visions, for her loving and tender care.
