Philip Nauert

April 24, 1957 — July 9, 2025

Philip Lyle Nauert, 68, passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2025 at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Phil was born on April 24th, 1957 at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL to Nicholas Henry Nauert and Lois Alva (Pach) Nauert, and spent his childhood moving between Germany, Mississippi, and Hawaii before settling in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Baylor University in 1979 where he had too much fun with his Pike chapter co-founders and met the love of his life Sandra Giere. He then earned his DDS in 1983 from the UT San Antonio school of Dentistry.

After graduating, Phil married Sandra Giere Nauert on June 25th, 1983 in Houston. He served his community with dedication and integrity, practicing dentistry for 36 years with most of his time at his practice, Contemporary Dental in Bellaire, Texas, where the motto then and still is “committed to excellent care”. He served on the Bellaire city council for 12 years and as Bellaire mayor for four years where his proudest accomplishment was the founding and development of Evelyn’s Park. Phil also served his community through Rotary club for 22 years, first in Bellaire and later in Twin Falls. Through Rotary’s youth exchange program, he became a father figure to Hilal Varinli and Sigrid Ketelsen who we have welcomed into our family. Phil was a proud and loving father, to our chagrin, bragging about his children’s doings to any and all who would listen. Phil had an endless curiosity his whole life and always had a project, whether it was assembling a windmill at his ranch, building tools for his shop, welding art from railroad spikes, crafting fine wooden boxes, assembling a HAM radio setup, or restoring fine (and some not-so-fine) watches. He never wasted money buying something when he could spend twice as much on the tools and materials to build it himself. Phil and Sandra moved to Twin Falls, Idaho in 2021 to pursue their dream of exploring the American West in their RV where they found good friends and a welcoming community. After retiring to Twin Falls, Phil was honored to serve his new community by volunteering at the Wellness Tree, a free community health clinic.

Phil is survived by his wife, Sandra; his children Scott Nauert (Amanda Walborn) and Laura Nauert (Alexander Beck); his brother, David Nauert; and his sisters Joyce Francis and Nikki (David) Truhan. A memorial service for Phil will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Monday, July 14th at 11:00 am mountain time, to honor and celebrate Phil’s life. For those who cannot attend in person, the service will be livestreamed and recorded for viewing at his obituary page at rosenaufuneralhome.com. Donations in Phil's memory may be made to the Wellness Tree in Twin Falls or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for Pancreatic Research at mdanderson.org/gifts.
