Richard Larry Carr, 90, of Twin Falls, Idaho, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 31, 2026.
Richard was born on October 6, 1936, in Galesburg, Illinois, to Thomas Fred and Rita Enola (Bybee) Carr. He was the oldest of four children. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving both stateside and overseas.
In 1954, Richard married Mary Pauline McGovern, and together they welcomed a son, Richard Larry Carr II. Sadly, Mary passed away in 1956 while Richard was stationed in England.
Richard married Donna Mae Saxton in 1957, and together they embarked on a life of adventure that eventually brought them to Alaska in 1969. They settled in the remote village of Bettles, north of the Arctic Circle, where Richard worked for the Alaska Department of Transportation and earned his pilot’s license. In March 1980, they welcomed their daughter, Kiana Marie, through adoption.
It was during his years in Bettles that Richard came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His Christian faith became the foundation of his life and remained steadfast throughout his years. After relocating to California in 1986, he became an active member of the Ontario Christian Reformed Church, where he was baptized and served as both elder and deacon.
Following Donna’s passing in 1996, Richard married Ann Harriet Flameling on October 24, 1998. They moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, in 2001, where Richard was a founding member of the New Covenant United Reformed Church.
Richard will be remembered for his unwavering faith, extraordinary generosity, and deep love for his family. An avid outdoorsman with an adventurous spirit and a wonderfully wry sense of humor, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, and sharing stories of his many adventures. Richard lived life at full throttle.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and kindness that will continue through the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Ann Carr; daughter, Kiana Carr; son, Richard Larry Carr II (Jr); stepchildren, Richard Flameling, John Flameling, and Katie Holm; and brother, Lester Carr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Fred and Rita Enola Carr; his first wife, Mary; his second wife, Donna; his sisters, Ruth and Carol; and his stepdaughter, Lauri.
