Sarah Dau Benton

Jul 8, 1949 — Aug 14, 2026

Sarah Benton, 77, of Twin Falls Idaho, passed away August 14th 2026 at Creekside Assisted Living in Jerome, Idaho.

Sarah was born July 8th, 1949 in Lewiston Idaho to Edward and Louise Dau. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1967. She continued her education at the University Of Idaho, earning her Bachelors degree in home economics in 1971.

As the piano accompanist for the Vandaleers, Sarah met Jerry Benton. They married in 1971 and had two daughters, Katherine and Elizabeth. They were later divorced.

Music was a huge part of Sarah's life. She was taught piano at a young age and began organ lessons not long after. While in high school she often served as pianist and organist at her home church. She was the organist for both the Filer and Twin Falls Methodist Churches, and played numerous weddings, funerals, and celebrations at various locations around the valley. Later in her career she volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital, playing the piano for visitors. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Sarah also had a remarkable gift for sewing. She worked for many years at the Paris, creating custom wedding gowns and formal attire. She later owned her custom alteration business, Image Alterations. Sarah also loved crocheting, creating many items from doilies and angels, to custom doll clothes and decorations.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving is her sister Karen Dau, of East Rochester, New York, daughters Kathy (Chris) Estridge and Liz Myers (Kyle Gillogly), both of Twin Falls, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Cremation will take place at Rosenau Funeral Home. Interment will be on September 2nd at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston Idaho at 1pm. A local celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Sarah's family wishes to thank the kind and wonderful staff at Hospice Visions and Creekside Care center for treating and caring for our mom with compassion and patience. Your kindness brought her comfort, and to us girls as well.
