Shawn Roy Sauer

July 11, 1966 — August 2, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shawn Sauer at his home surrounded by the people he loved so deeply on August 2, 2025 after a 20 month battle of Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Shawn was born on July 11, 1966 to Mary Lou Adfield of Jerome Idaho where he joined his Big Sister Shelly Warr. Shawn later became a big brother to his favorite buddies, Clay and Robby Sauer. In 1973 their little family became a large blended family when Mary Lou married Ollie Adfield and Shawn and Shelly gained 3 more siblings, Dennis, Terry, and Bob.

Shawn graduated from Jerome High School in 1984. Shawn started working at the North Side Canal Company during the summers of high school. At the age of 17 he was officially hired on full time at the Canal Company where he worked his way up to assistant manager and continued to work there until his passing.

Shortly after he graduated high school Shawn met a woman at the Ally Bar and told his buddy that he was going to marry that girl and guess what? On March 30, 1985 Shawn married the love of his life Mary Jo Skeen at the Church of God in Jerome. Not only did he marry the love of his life but he adopted one of his biggest pride and joys, Jason. Not long after, daddy’s little girl Lacy was born on March of 1986.

While he grew with the Northside Canal Company he became a father-like figure, a mentor to many and a best friend to all.

Out of any job Shawn had his favorite job and title was Papa. His biggest pride and joys in life were his three grand daughters, Ashlynne, Aareah and Ainslee.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jo, son Jason (Clio) daughter, Lacy (Tyler) his parents, Ollie and Mary Lou Adfield, Brothers, Clay (Shauna), Robby (Wendy), Dennis (Julie), Bob (Michelle), Sisters, Shelly and Terry and his precious grand daughters, Ashlynne, Aareah and Ainslee, as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his Grandma and Grandpa O’Toole, Grandma and Grandpa Adfield, Grandma and Grandpa Sauer, and his 3 unborn grand babies.

We would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to his doctor at the cancer institute Dr. Thibault as well as all the amazing nurses. We would also like to extend our sincere love and gratitude to his hospice nurse Ginger, she has become like a part of our family and we don’t know what we would have done without her.

“After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” Thessalonians 4:17
