Steven Stanley Swope Born July 16, 1948, devoted husband, father, son, grandfather, brother and friend to many, went to be with Jesus Christ on 4/8/2026.

Born to Charles and Velate Swope in Twin Falls, Idaho, Steve was 1of 5 children.

Steve grew up in Twin Falls, and graduated from Twin Falls H.S. class of 1966, where family and friends note that he was the coolest guy in town with his bright red Olds and saddle shoes, always perfectly groomed and handsome. It was during this time of high school he was at Dierke’s Lake watching Paul Revere and the Raiders perform when he met the prettiest girl in town, Annabelle Thompson thru his best friend Joe Theisen.

Steve married Annabelle Thompson in December 1965 where they had two children Randy (1966) and Gia (1969) they made their home in Twin Falls where Steve worked at the family business Pepsi Cola Bottling along with his father and 3 brothers. Steve and Anni were later divorced.

Steve married Sandra Alexander in December 1975 where they had Lori Swope (1972) and Sandy’s son James Mitchell (1970), all together they had a blended family of 6 that never left a dull moment. Steve and Sandy recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, they were inseparable in life and devoted to their faith in our lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Steve worked tirelessly in Sales his whole life where he met and befriended thousands of people while working for Pepsi Cola, Motorola, Magic Valley International, and his proudest professional moment managing and building the new Freightliner dealership north of Twin Falls until retirement in 2013. Throughout these years he had reoccurring customers due to his honesty and integrity. He never forgot a face, and had a story about, or for every one of his friends and customers. His knowledge of the American west, the Magic Valley was immense, due to his 77 years of relationships, experiences and reading at least 1-2 books a week. His stories and history lessons are and will continue to be missed.

Steve was a lifelong outdoorsman as were/are his father and brothers. He grew up hunting and fishing the Magic Valley where he later taught all his children and grandchildren safety and ethics. He was a master of his crafts, he knew every ditch, willow patch, fishing hole and pond in the valley, along with the relationships to be allowed access. His later years, he enjoyed spending the spring sitting on buckets in the desert hunting ground squirrels with his grandkids all the way till he was unable. Steve will always be remembered by family, friends & neighbors for his meticulous landscaped yard that rival any professional golf course.

Steve was a lifetime motorcyclist, racing cross country, motocross and a member of MVTMA since the 70’s. He, his brothers, children and grandchildren all learned to ride on the trails of Idaho. He knew the southern Idaho trail system inside and out. It was here that he made his fondest memories with his family and friends and reflected till his final days about how much he missed riding his dirt bike. Steve and Sandy later became avid Harley riders up until a few years ago. In over 30 years, they put thousands and thousands of miles all over the western United States, visiting historic landmarks, meeting more friends, and of course, many more fascinating stories of their travels. Much of these earlier travels included his brother Scotty and sister-in-law, Connie.

Steve and Sandy were active members of the Twin Falls Reformed Church and were involved in the many programs and always volunteering wherever needed.

Steve is survived by his wife of 50 years Sandy, his children Randy (Kris) Swope, Gia Swope, Lori (Chad) Coats, and James Mitchell. His brothers Scott (Connie) Swope, Joe (Claudia) Swope, Jeb (Linda) Swope, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his faithful best fur friend/kid Pheobe.

He is proceeded in death by Parents Charlie (1993) and Velate (1976), infant sister Vicki (1947), daughter in law Harmony Wyett (2013), son in law Paul McClintic (2016), Diane Bolt (2009) long time dear friend, and several beloved dogs.

Phoebe’s remembrance of her dad:

When daddy & mommy came to the humane society looking for a forever fur friend, we locked eyes & looked @ each other…I knew right away they were going to be my forever safe family & home. My “human” daddy Steve was so loving & fun. He always took me for drives & gave me treats, provided comfort & protection. I was safe & loved. I love my human daddy & I miss him so much. I know my human mommy Sandy will take care of me & I will take care of her too. I know she misses my daddy as much as I do.

Steve requested no services. Instead of flowers, please donate to Twin Falls Humane Society, 420 Victory Ave, Twin Falls 83301 in Steve’s name. He always said, “don’t bury me, just put me in a Folgers coffee can and I’ll be just fine.”

Steve and Sandy grew together in their faith in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Steve is now in his Heavenly Home standing at the feet of God and enjoying his Heavenly reward.
