Heaven gained an angel on Saturday May 3rd, 2025. Ted Burgess passed away from a brief Illness.
Ted was born to Harold and Vera Burgess on 09-29-1936. Ted and his family resided in Shoshone, Idaho for all of his formative years.
Ted was an all-star athlete in high school lettering in all of the sports offered at the school, but his love was playing baseball. He played baseball at Shoshone High School, Boise Junior College, and with the St Louis Cardinals organization for 3 years.
In 1956 Ted hung up his baseball cleats and married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Stowell in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Ted and Mary moved to Twin Falls in 1959, when he started to work for the Idaho Power Company. His career with Idaho Power spanned 38 years.
Ted and Mary honorably served in the Boise and the Twin Falls LDS temples for ten years and they faithfully served in the Birmingham Alabama Mission.
Ted had a life long love for horses. He rode horses from his childhood, with his favorite horse, “Chalk” carrying him all over Lincoln County Idaho. Ted continued to ride in his adulthood, he helped on cattle drives and rode with the Jerome County Sheriff’s Posse for several years. He checked off a bucket list item by taking a last ride in 2018.
Ted is survived by his five children, Brian Burgess, Marla Nichols (Walter), Lori McClymonds (Rocky), Brent Burgess (Naomi), and Marc Burgess. Ted has 22 surviving Grandchildren and 24 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his older brother Harold Clifford Burgess.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Ellen, his parents, 3 of his 4 siblings, and his grandson, Logan Nichols.
Ted’s life will be celebrated on Saturday May 10th at the Hankins LDS Chapel, 723 Hankins Road North, Twin Falls, Idaho.
A viewing will be held at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. The services will be held under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home.
