Thomas Lawrence Gilliand, 94 passed away on June 3, 2026, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Prior to he hade made his home in Kanaka Rapids Ranch. Before moving to Idaho, Thomas resided for 10 years in Sierra Vista, AZ and 30 years in California (Santa Rosa & Trinity Center).
Thomas was born on October 7, 1931, in Atlantic City, NJ, but raised and graduated from Pleasantville High School class of 1950. Thomas served his country with the United States Marine Corp 1951-1955 spending 13 months in Korea.
Thomas was a commercial pilot, flight instructor and taught meteorology. He flew with Capital Airlines from 1960-1964 before the company merged with United Airlines. Tom was a 3rd vice president with Codding Enterprises, Santa Rosa California; managed shopping centers, Coddington Airport as well as being the company corporate pilot.
After retirement 1990-1993 Tom flew air attack 0-2 aircraft for the California Division of Forestry.
Tom is survived by his adored and devoted wife Marlene Rodewoldt Gilliand.
Tom is predeceased by father and mother Ira & Maud Gilliand, Pleasantville, NJ; sister Catherine (Kay) Gilliand Spissinger, Margate NJ and brother Ira (Bud) Gilliand, Ukiah CA.
Per Tom’s request no viewing or memorial service will be held. Burial will be in the Atlantic City Cemetery beside family members.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home Twin Falls, ID.
