Willa Pauline “Billie” Walker Bird Dockstader
Pauline was born February 12, 1928 in Murtaugh, Idaho to parents Edward F. Walker and Fanny L. Matthews and passed away April 27, 2025 in Twin Falls, Idaho. She joined brothers Cecil Walker, Hollis Walker and Ed (Junior) Walker. All four children were born in the same house in Murtaugh. Pauline moved with her parents to Twin Falls in 1942 at the age of 14.
Pauline married Keith Bird on March 31, 1946 in Elko, Nevada. She has two sons, Stan Bird and Randy Bird. Two sons died at birth.
Pauline worked as a waitress for a short time then at Bell Telephone, Detweiler Plumbing, Tupper Ware and City of Jerome. They moved to Hailey in 1962 where they purchased a funeral home for McGoldricks. This was the start of Bird Funeral Home. They also owned B & G Laundromat, Wood River Cleaners and KSK Recreation selling motorcycles, boats and snow machines. In 1975 Pauline and Keith moved to Jerome and purchased and operated a funeral home until 1978 when Keith passed away at the age of 53. In 1983 Pauline married Jay Dockstader and moved to Twin Falls. When needed she worked at Jay’s shoe sore “Hudsons” which allowed her to add to her already huge selection of shoes. Most of the time they enjoyed time at the cabin at Smiley Creek and going south to Arizona in the winter. She enjoyed working on her flowers, feeding the squirrels and weekly outings with friends. In her younger days dancing was the enjoyment. She and Keith danced a million miles at Radio Rendezvous or any other dance. She loved having friends over for a meal and a mean batch of margaritas. There was always Saturday night cards and games.
Pauline was a wonderful Grandma Billie to Stan’s daughters, Kami and Jaci and Randy’s boys Ross and Luke. When great grandkids arrived. Pauline made weekly attendance at baseball, football and basketball games.
She also enjoyed riding ATVs and snow machines. If there was fun to be had, Pauline was there. Because Stan and Randy’s father had to work a heavy schedule, Pauline took the boys and their friends fishing, hunting and other outings even teaching them to drive but telling them not to tell their parents.
Pauline is survived by two sons, Stan (Lynn) Bird, Kimberly and Randy (Mary) Bird, Hailey, granddaughters Kami Lammers, Jaci Urie and grandsons Ross and Luke Bird. Great grandsons, Nick Urie, Ben and Ayden Lammers and great granddaughter Shelby Jones. Also, great-great grandchildren Mason, Baylor, Logan and Emery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all three brothers, both husbands and two sons at birth.
